So I was working on a couple of new ideas for my 150 point Purple nurple squads, and I became very indesive over the inclusion of Gree or the new Merumeru. Mind you if this was 200 it would be Merumeru all the way. When supported by Merumeru and Yoda GM, WEW's can have a +20 attack (the math, 9 base, +3 from YGM, +4 from CQF, and +4 from Momentum) for 40 damage (20 base, +10 for charging, +10 for Momentum), from 1 square away, or base. With Gree they are a point cheaper, and top out at a +16, for melee not bad at all, the last Vader we have has a +16 base attack.
But I almost feel that at 150, Gree is still the better option, after all he's cheaper and a mobile shooter, and he leaves enough points for R2 and leaves 18 points for Lando, or a TBSV or the new Boma Greenback. And Boma isn't neccesariolly to shabby with R2 having sucha target on him all the time.

So my thoughts, Merumeru is the better piece for a 200 point game, but if going for 150 the points matter and Gree is on the ball. However, if you don't plan to run Yoda, you could run Tarfull and Merumeru together (for 9 points more than YGM, 64 over the 55) but you do lose yoda and what he brings. That could also be nasty pairing right there, thats a +21 attack, wowsa

200 I'd definitely go with Meramu
150 I'd more than likely go with Meramu
100 I'd probably go with Gree

The thing to think of on whether to go with Gree vs Meramu is also on how you're using the points. Meramu is an awesome character to attack with, while Gree is just so frickin fragile.

For 20 points more, Meramu gets:
100 extra HP
+5 Def
Double
Extra Damage
Grants Wookiees special mojo

Sure, Gree is nice with Mobile Speed 8, but all it takes is one lucky LoS and he can be taken down in one activation. It'll take a crapton of luck for Meramu to get taken down in one activation.

http://www.bloomilk.com/Squads/View.aspx?ID=74802, Alright, so with a squad like this, sure it has 500hp, but it has such low defense that it wont last very long

Also keep in mind that Merumeru gives you access to all of the rebel chewbaccas as well.

I have one with Rebel Hero in it, it is very impressive, interestingly Chewie RH is a better melee combatant than a ranged option in the squad, but he is effective enoguh against ugnaughts.

Here is the short cut for it on bloomilk. Or if it doesn't work look at my republic purp nurps squads at 200 points from DT. You'll find it easy.

But It has 12 activations and over 650hp. Nothing is working it's way through that fast.

That and his bodyguard could be huge to keep the weaker wookiees alive. I havent built one around him yet, just WFFs and OR Elites.
