We had 18 players turn out for the event. Gray Whitsett (Admiral Graybar) won the tournament running Snowspeeder. David Weeks was second with Imperials. More results to come.

What, Sean didn't win? Say it ain't so! I'm shocked :)

Well done Admiral Greybar and David!!! Good show fellas. I look forward to the full results. Also good for you Jason, for following through on your promise, and making sure the event went off as a success.

I was really off my game Saturday. I made 2 very stupid mistakes in my game against Greg Sutton, and by the time I got to round 4 against Brandon Pyle, I conceded when he disintegrated my full health Luke Commando. I realized I just don't play enough anymore to compete in a tournament like that, and until I can get back in the swing of playing (my wife hasn't played a game with me in almost 2 years, so all I have are the occasional trips to the store), that will probably be my last tournament like that.

Had a great time though, and am very glad I went.

So, the obvious question is how were the Nashville guys in person?

You had a good time so they can't possibly be terror's the portray themselves as online?

Actually Nickname I didn't interact that much with them. One of them at the end of the day asked me my username on Bloomilk and I simply said I don't post on Bloomilk - which is true. Had he asked me about WotC or Gamers it might have been a different story.

He made some crack about me being better off that way and that was the end of it.

Beyond that, I think I played a guy from Nashville in round one and I could tell he had potential to be good but had a lot to learn about how to play the game. That was probably my easiest match. I think I was supposed to play my final round against one of the Nashville guys, too, but I conceded the game to him because I wanted to walk around with a friend of mine from the Nashville area who had driven up to the store for the afternoon to see me.

Everyone falls off their game at some point. Best not to be too hard on yourself. Sounds like you had some bad luck go your way and your playing a very difficult squad also. You have 2 main threats (combined 140hp) and a lot of low HP support in a 200 point squad. Its a squad that will really punish any kind of errors in square counting or positioning as one mistake and your on queer street. A bit of extra beef would have helped.

I feel you on the wife part also, my Wife dangled that carrot until we got married. She's pretty much knocked playing any swm with me on the head.

Sounds like an interesting tourney, would have loved to have gone but I didn't find out until the week of and plus, you know, it's quite a drive lol. For those wanting more information, there is a thread about it on BlooMilk but be careful ;)

You should bribe your wife. "Yes, I'll continue South Beach...if you play SWM."

LOL, that sounds like a good idea until you realize that she is sick of getting up every morning and making me an egg for breakfast. That could totally backfire! LOL

Thanks Deri. I did indeed have some bad luck in my later games, and not just the big D. I rolled several 1's in my game against Graham Bingham. But really getting knocked down the chain was my own fault. I had a different idea of the set-up of figs when I ran my Luke up and accidentally ended up basing Leia instead of Han. That pretty much cost me the game against Greg.

Well from my interactions they were pretty nice guys. I didnt have a single problem with any of them. I could tell they didnt have a lot of experience in high level play but they have real potential.

Happy the tournament went well, too bad about all the crap on the other site about squad choices. But it sounded like it was fun.

It was a really really fun time (and a looooooooong drive too). And as I said on the other site they have a HUGE place to play, it was very good to see.
