Here's the schedule for all Star Wars Miniatures gaming in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Important note!! We have a new location, starting May 6th!

Thursdays: Art of War Gaming and Miniatures. 7:30 to whenever we're done (usually about 10:30 or 11). We mostly play with DCI rules (gambit, map/side roll, etc.). However, sometimes we encourage everyone to do a specific type of build, and we always allow use of custom maps unless we're doing Regional/GenCon prep as long as everybody's OK with that. If you're visiting and want to play a normal squad build, you are more than welcome to do so, and certainly welcome to ask the rest of us to as well if it really bothers you! ;)

May
06 - 200pts Constructed - Regional Prep, Restrcted Map list
08 - Cincinnati Regional - Special Saturday Event, held at Sci-Fi City @ Northgate Mall

-------------------

I figured I'd list some definitions for some of the special squad types we run:
Spoiler: show
Backstab: At the beginning of each initiative, if any 2 allied pieces are adjacent, roll a save 11; the piece with the highest build points takes 10 points of unavoidable damage. If they are the same piece/point cost (ie: Aqualish Assassin/Chadra-Fan Pickpocket) nothing happens.
Countdown: Just like standard play, but with a short time-frame. We play 200 pts in 35 minute rounds. Helps get in more games, but still allows for high point squads.
Dream Team: Play whatever you want, no faction restrictions. Darth Vader and Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor on the same squad? Go for it!
Dynamic Duo: Your squad must contain only two characters, and it must equal exactly 100 points. Cannot be 99 or 101 points. Faction rules still apply. We typically also use the "Iron Man" format where we play on Tiles instead of full sized maps, and then we do 3 full tournaments in one evening. For those events, must bring a separate squad and tile for each tournament to be played that night.
Epic: You build a 500 point squad which contains a maximum of 16 characters (Reinforcement/Reserve abilities may break this limit). You may only have 3 different Commander Effects. Gambit is 15 pts per round. Note: multiple instances of the same CE (like two or more Stormtrooper Officers) on your squad only counts as one Commander Effect. Uses maps typically legal for 200 point DCI.
Faction Pure: Squad can only contain pieces from the same faction, and may not include Fringe. Cannot play a Fringe only squad either, however Black Sun is considered a 'mini-Faction', so you could play a squad consisting of Xizor and/or pieces with the Black Sun SA or 'Black Sun' in their name. Mandalore the Ultimate's Conscription is in effect, as is Affinity.
Famous Pairs: Your squad must contain two Unique pieces that form an iconic pair from the Star Wars universe (Han and Leia, Vader and the Emperor, 4-Lom and Zuckuss, etc.). All other pieces in your squad must be non-Unique.
Inferno: At the beginning of each initiative, deal 10hp of UNAVOIDABLE damage to each friendly character occupying Hindering terrain (Yellow) or Low object terrain (Green).
Proxy Sealed: Played just like a normal sealed event, but you don't have to buy boosters. We use SWMManager or BlooMilk.com to tell us what pieces would be in a booster and we play with those. Get the fun of a sealed event, without spending $30-$45!
Reversal of Fortune: Player's squad may include 1 free Med Droid (12 pts). All pieces with more than 20 hp start the skirmish with 20 hp.
Tile Wars: Popular format developed by TimmmerB123 on the WOTC forums. Each player just uses a 5x7 tile (for a total map size of 5x14) to play on, creating a quick and dirty 'battle royale' style game.

Will post more if we do anything different!

Here are the Zombie cards for the upcoming Halloween Themed night.

Halloween is upon us! What better way to celebrate than with some Star Wars Miniatures: Zombie Infestation!

We've come up with a rule set for our local group that we're planning to try out, and I figured I would toss the rules up here on the forums for everyone else to enjoy as well.

Basically, it works like this. Your entire squad must be living characters. No non-living pieces at all. Whenever a piece dies of 'natural causes' (shot by somebody, flamethrower, lightsaber hit, etc.), you roll a save of 11. If you fail that save, the piece comes back as a Zombie (see below for Zombie stats)! Basically, a Zombie virus has infected everyone. There's no way to know who might become a Zombie until they are dead and it's already too late!

Now, you still control Zombies that spawn from your own pieces. Whether they are activated or not depends on what the status was of the piece that was defeated (kind of like Princess Leia, Hoth Commander's CE).

Now, where it starts to get really interesting is when your Zombies start attacking your opponent. Zombies work basically like Rakghouls. If one of your Zombies kills a living enemy, then YOU get a free Zombie, just like Rakghoul disease. No save of 11 for that either, again, just like the Rakghoul. Whenever a Zombie gets defeated, it is dead...again...lol.

You play the game as normal, first person to defeat the other person's squad wins, or if playing with a time limit, use the normal DCI rules for tiebreakers if time runs out before someone wins.

Here are the stats to use for the Zombies. Non-Uniuqe Zombies come from defeated non-Uniques, and Unique Zombies come from defeated Uniques. Anything killed by a Zombie that spawns a new Zombie, it is spawned according to what the defeated character was, either Unique or non-Unique.

Updated with our FULL summer schedule through GenCon! Also of note, ACME Comics and Games has closed and we have moved our Thursday night gaming to a new store named Art of War Gaming and Miniatures. They're in the same area of town as ACME was, but much easier to find. You can find more info about them at: www.aowcincinnati.com

P.S. Chris, I accidentally deleted your note about playing at YottaQuest from time to time. So, feel free to add that back in if you want.
