Jedi Academy so far has been a great set, lotta fun pieces and a lotta solid competitive ones too. It got me to thinking; Which minis from the set have done the most to shake up squads, and then it hit me. I really love JA because of the solid non-uniques.

OR
Jedi BM
Jedi Crusader
Antarian Ranger

Sith
Sith Apprentice
Sith Lord

Republic
Antarian Ranger
Youngling

Imperial
Disciple of Ragnos

NR
Antarian Ranger
Exceptional Jedi Apprentice
YV Ossus Guardian

Fringe
Jensaarai Defender
R4

YV
YV Ossus Guardian

Obviously there has been a lot of Afinity love (which has been awesome!). I'll go out on a limb here and throw down my list of equally solid Uniques:

Jedi Exile
The Dark Woman
Grand Master Yoda
Kol Skywalker
Leia Skywalker, JK

The others don't really cut it right now for various reasons. All in all I'm very happy with the slew of usuable NUs. And with that said, I feel that the NUs have had a greater effect on the meta then the Uniques.

What do you think?

There are some excellent arguments for both pieces. I left GMLS off my list simply due to his cost. It is hard to fit him into a squad a keep it competitive, though I can agree that with careful play GMLS could be a challenging squad.

Qui-Gon is also an excellently designed piece, low cost but solid stats. However I feel his usefulness is only in one or two squads (buffing perhaps a youngling squad or an AniSTAP&etc squad).

I'm by no means an expert in the competitive scene ... but I think Leia and Kol are tops in this set, and can really be beastly ... and Dark Woman's ability to get where she wants when she wants (with some help by R2 and/or Panaka) is wicked. So in a way, I think those Uniques may have a great overall impact on the Meta (with Leia being tops).

That being said, I agree with you that the Non-uniques are great. I love the Sith Lords ... work well with Holo Sid or Sid Sith Master. Battlemasters, Ossus Vong, and Antarian Rangers are also all top notch.

i think your forgetting about the Qui-gon Dark woman combo. Use light tutor on someone with a attack less then 10 now they have plus 4. i would take qui-gon over kol im not sold on kol. He is a good piece but nothing new. If disruptive is within 6 of him he goes down fast or if wedge dies.

Ooh, yeah you're right I've seen that trick, its pretty cool. I chose Kol simply because, point for point, he is a solid solid piece. With Wedge he's got defense against ranged and melee, whereas Qui-Gon has only defense against.. characters within 2 via JMT.

Ruhk, I agree with your list - those are all my favorites too, though I would add the Felucian (highly annoying to melee attackers, and maybe a cheap way to get first round gambit on some maps) and the Peace Brigade Thug (great combined fire piece and I love the Vong interaction).

Only one I'm on the fence about: I haven't figured out what the Jensaarai defender is good for yet. He's just so expensive, and he seems to go down surprisingly quickly for a 45 point figure.

Really a great set.

Totally agree on the Jensaarai for its cost. In limited play I'm not so sure anymore...although, I suppose with say a piece like Nomi (which is WAY too much) the JD gains mettle on the FA rerolls...

I have a squad on Bloo Milk that takes advantage of the Jensaarai's Draw Fire by giving him evade with Wedge. "Damage Soak with a Lightsaber"
He Draws fire from Kyle, and Either evades or Armours it. Then, with Greater Mobile, he does 50 from 6 with Precision.

Yeah, the JD is a fantastic Damage Sink if you can use to base with another character. and for 45 points you get form 90-180 hp. If you make each save.. well 180 hps is nothing to sneeze at.
