Well, we had 7 players tonight. I'll give the rares pulled by each, and a " * " for those used in squads.
Derrick C-3P0 * Dash Rendar *
Dave (ithai) Xizor * Logray *
Gunther (gunther) Kyp * Crix *
Luke Lobot * Arica *
Zack (exile) Thrawn * Leia, BH *
Matt R2 Thrawn *
Ray (me) best possible pulls ever.... R2 and Jerjerrod! Yeah, well, I knew that Override would be my only saving grace, and it certainly was. My final squad was faction legal, even!
R2, Twi'lek BSV, Bothan Commando, RC Pathfinder, Merc Commander, Ewok Scout, his Duros partner, Bespin Guard, and a Mouse Droid (everyone asked, "What CE is he helping?" My answer was, "He's my 3 point, 20 def. gambit getter!")
First round versus Luke, my map, Bespin. He is a younger kid, and his five activation squad just couldn't get the job done. He did have his own Override, but I took Lobot out, and it was clean up after that. Afterwards, I made sure to tell him the points where he could have made much better choices. 1-0
Round two versus Dave, praise God I won map, because his Broken Christophsis would have broken me! I knew I only had one choice against Xizor, and R2 was that choice. I kept locking one door, taking pot shots out another. The funniest part was when Xizor gave up an AoO to my Ewok, I made my Pheromones save, then critted! Later, he attacked the same Ewok (I named him Teebo, the Warrior), and rolled that ever evil "1". Later, Teebo hit w/ Cunning, again. 40 Dmg from an Ewok! The game was back and forth, a real nail biter, but in the end, it was 47-46 in my favor. Fantastic game, Dave! You had the better squad and played it wonderfully. 2-0
Final round versus, in my opinion, the best squad of the tourney, Gunther's Kyp, Crix, Pathfinder, 2 Veterans, and an Ewok Scout. As always, the only reason I had a hope and a prayer was Override, and it worked again. We were on Chancellor's Throneroom, and I made him split his forces back and forth. After I killed Kyp, it was just 2 more rounds of Gambit needed to win, and I just kept him off of me. 3-0
So we busted two packs, and all got to make picks. My first choice was that gorgeous Xizor sitting there! Now, after only buying 3 packs, one sealed tourney, and many trades, I only need 3 VRs and a few C/UC.
Great night, guys!
