You said that the first OR guard was within 12 of your Rak... as far as I was aware, Ambush let you move your Speed. So that Rak could only move 6 and triple.. not 12 (maybe the distance wasn't 12?)

Ambush <-- Archive entry is backing me up.

Still, all them free Raks! oh boy :D I can't wait to give it a shot.

They are a fun piece to play. I used three in my Rak-Kun squad I played in my KOTOR release day game and I was turning Stormtroopers into new Raks all over the place.

I haven't had a shot to play these guys yet, but I'm dying to. I've got 4 so far.....sounds like I might need a few more if that's a typical disease rate for these critters.

Rakgouls are very nice, but I'm not sure if 30 HP is viable, especially when they are so costly.

Under the right conditions, yes, but those are very situational.

When I tried them out it was for a much more casula venue than where i usually play. They're much too fragile to spend 16 points on them in a serious build. They have because a permanent Lobot option in case my opponent plays a bunch of low hp grunts.

I REALLY want to try them out, but so far, I only have 2 of them, and we have only pulled, maybe 1 in prize support at the LGS since KOTOR released. So, haven't had much chance to nab any extras yet. I have seen a couple times where they got quite brutal though, lol.

I'm not worried about Rakghouls. I have been underwhelmed by their performance each and every time I've seen them on the table.

Anyone that is winning with them (with the exception of probably you, Dean - Mr. #1 ranked DCI player for SWM) has an opponent that just doesn't have a squad capable of eliminating them before they are a viable threat.

In one of my test games, I waited until a couple of pieces had activated, then at the opportune time, ran Exar 12, and used Sith Sorcery, activating enough that he wouldn't be able to kill my 4 Raks before the next turn. Then the Raks set up for the Ambush. Since I had an MTB, I went first :)

Not sure if you are trying to prove my point or argue against it... :P

Dennis there are ways around them getting killed.... I mean come on I can regularly keep an uggie alive it has what 10 hps....Rakghouls can be kept alive.... I am certainly not saying that they are always the best option. you have tolook at your opponents squad see if they will be a viable choice. As I said I brought one in as a reinforcement. I did twice in the tournament. One time it worked great the other time my Rakghoul got shot up before he could do anything... but that was fine it was one less shot one of my more important pieces was taking out of fear for what my Rakghoul was going to do to his uggie.... sometimes that is enough to make me happy.... just getting it off that one game was as much fun as I have had in a long long time on one game...... all I can say is Kudos to Rob... tht is one of the best pieces he has ever designed just for what it can do

With the exception of the Mando squad I've been playing lately in 150, I never never play a squad that doesn't have a character with Accurate Shot.

Most of the people I play with don't either.

Well, that's sad. I do it all the time.

Second, accurate doesn't work through walls.

It doesnt' have to (work through walls).

I might have exaggerated when I said never never, but it is rare that I don't at least grab Aurra or a Boba or Han. Accurate Shot is still the best ability in the game, and the reason is simple. It collapses one of the core strategies regarding protecting pieces.

I've only made up 1 squad with them (Rakghoul Fun on Bloo milk), and I faced an Exar/Rak squad. It was hilarious. His Raks and Mine attacking and turning each other. At the end, though, I had 6 or 7 on the board (along with my other pieces), and he had Exar and Med Droid. The squad is basically Thrawn/RS Palpy/Sith Witches and Raks. Rakghouls spending Palpy's force points is hilarious. :)

My sig on wotc has my Rak kills (living, I killed the Med droid, too.)

I'm glad you had so much fun with them, Dean! I still want to try out a few of the Rakghoul squads I've built. It looks like Ambush stacks with Charging Fire, so they would be really dangerous in a squad with Han ST. :) In fact, that gives me an idea....[runs off to the 200pt squad forum]

EDIT: Oh, nuts...I just remembered the darn things are Savage.
 I guess the best option for these guys is still Exar Kun. They're good support for Lobot, at least.

Interesting....is this something that NickName just recently ruled on?

They might be useful with MTU and MTI then as well. :D

I was going to do that but, unlike Boba's disintigrations where I might get one or two in a tourny, there was just too many Rak kills.
