I played in my first 150 constructed tournament this weekend at the GameWyze in Plano (at the corner of Coit and Spring Creek for the locals). I usually only play in sealed release tournaments so this was the first constructed, and the first time I've played 150.

My squad was:
Vader's Apprentice, Redeemed
Chewbacca, Enraged Wookiee
Yoda of Dagobah
Wookiee Freedom Fighter
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Force Spirit
Mon Calamari Tech Specialist
Ugnaught Demolitionist
Ewok

Yoda gave Light Tutor to Chewie and Obi's ghost tried to hang with Chewie (so he could build up some force because Chewie couldn't use Yoda's force).

My plan was to have Chewie hang back untill someone came within rang to him. Unfortunately it never happened and I had him out in gambit the first round each game. (I blame it on nerves, and my inability to think rationally).

Round 1. Vs. Wedge (WedgeIkari on Gleemax)

Wedge is good. I could blame my lack of skill, lack of squad building and lack of rolling on losing this game but I won't.

Wedge used (from what I remember):
Luke Skywalker, Legacy of the Light Side
Aurra Sing
Admiral Ackbar
Lando Calrissian, Dashing Scoundrel
General Dodonna
R2-D2
Juno Eclipse
Mon Calamari Tech Specialist
Ungaught Demolishonist x2

I won the map roll, so we played on Muunilist. I also won the side and selected the side without the battle map/closed room.

I don't recall round by round specifics (that's what makes this a sorry excuse for a tourny report), but there were a couple of highlights for Wedge.

First round I'm out the gate and collecting force for the users and Gambit points. Wedge is not-so-jumping-out-into-the-middle-of-everything and, after setting up to the left of the room moves most of his folks into the offices across from his starting area. The notable exeptions to entering the offices are Lando and Luke, who hang outside the offices so they can mobile around the corner and shoot my poor saps unlucky enough to be caught out the open (notibly the ugnaughts opening the side doors to the offices in the following rounds.) Eventually I killed one of his ugnaughts (woo hoo!) and Aurra was 13 squares from Chewie shooting him with extreme prejudice. I use one of Chewie's force points to get adjacent to Aurra and smack her for 40. Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, R2 locked the door sealing the wookiee in with a boat loat of others able to take shots at him.

Long story short (too late) I lose horribly. I think I killed the one Ugnaught, and beat up Aurra pretty bad, but that was it. He ended up finishing my folks in fairly quick order leaving only Yoda alive, and we all know what massive damage output he doesn't have, so that was pretty much end-game.

Things I learned from this game: Be patient, don't go to him. I probably would have done better waiting on the other side of the gambit collumn and let him come out of the offices. Oh yeah, Chewie's Defense SUCKS.

I'm 0-1

Round 2 Vs. Cory (werewolfpoopoo on Gleemax)

Cory's a new guy and was thankful to find people that actually play and have people that have played before and know the rules.

Cory played (again, from memory):
Yoda, Jedi Master
Republic Commando Training Sergeant
Republic Commando - Boss
Republic Commando - Scorch
Clone Trooper
Clone Trooper
Ugnaught Demolitionist (I believe he had an ugnaught, though I'm not sure)

Cory, being newer and unfamiliar with tournament play, didn't have a map so we played on Muunilist. We rolled for sides and I won, starting in the same spot I did last time.

I again rush out to gambit in the first round with Chewie and the Ghost (I appearantly am a slow learner). Cory's squad was split up, half on each side of the war-room. The side that had Yoda, Boss and a clone (the offices with the vault), I sent my Yoda, an ugnaught and VAR. VAR pushed Boss, killing him in the main aisle (Yoda and the clone were actually in the offices). The other side I sent the Wookiee FF, the other ugnaught and the MonCal (Chewie ended up getting into it with them too). VAR pushed Yoda several times, before he was in range to cancel it and things didn't go well for him.

I'm 1-1

Round 2 Vs. Robert (not sure if he's on the boards)

Robert's a relatively new guy, but has a very good grasp of the game (which does not bode well for me as I generally suck).

Robert played (though I question my memory most with this one):
Mandalore the Indomitable
Mandalorian Gunslinger
Mandalorian Gunslinger
Mandalorian Warrior
Mandalorian Warrior
Mandalorian Warrior
Ugnaught Demolitionist
Ugnaught Demolitionist

Robert had no map (because he too is newer and, to my understanding, had never played in a tournament) so we played Muunilist. Again, I won the side and selected the open side. He set up inside the War-room. This game, for some reason, is more of a blur. Maybe it's because my blood pressure was skyrocketing due to nerves, not annoyances :0. I killed most of his guys with VAR and Chewie and he, in turn, killed most of my guys with momentum & cunning gunslingers and Mandalore. It came down to Mandalore and a Warrior against VAR and Yoda. He killed Yoda with Mandalore (Yoda was out of force points because VAR doing a lot of pushing). When Yoda died, I forgot all about Force Spirit (I eventually remembered about 24 hours later when talking to my wife). VAR kills the adjacent warrior. It's now down to Mandalore with 30hp and VAR with 20. We roll for initiative and he wins. Instead of double attacking (needing only one to hit), he opts to move adjacent to have momentum and attack. Luckily (for me) he rolls a 4. VAR double attacks (because he only has 2 force points and can't push), hitting both.

I win the nail-biter, and finish 2-1 and 2nd place.

Props to Mike and Wedge for setting the whole thing up and getting it going.
