not sure if this the right place for this post but any way I may be moving to New York city or Chicago in the next couple of months and I am trying to find out if there is any place or person in either city that hosts games or if there are no people there and it may result in the unfortunate end to my short lived minis career. I imagine with 8 millon and 3 million people in each city there better be some players

Chicago is home to a great community of minis players. You might recognize a few of the best competitive players from this local in the names of Fingersandteeth, TimmerB, MtMagus, and myself. Then you add on about 6-8 locals that play weekly or monthly around the city, and several others not too far such as Princeton and Milwaukee, and heck, we travel to Gencon in Indy, and occasionally to Kalamazoo to play with the likes of Engineer, Uliq-Quel Droma, JDJersey, and others.

So if you come to Chicago, you are in for one of the strongest and most active communities around the world.

I can tell you nothing about New York :)

Let me chime in as a CT resident and say NYC and the resident areas surrounding suck big time for minis play from what I've seen. It's a decent enough place to live, but you'll have to dig hard to find people less obsessed with their cars/material garbage than most places in the country. Money's good out here :)

If you move out here I can give you a couple games though
