I have met the Fox!

I went to Barrie, Ontario over the weekend to hang out with a friend and to play star wars. We went to the OMG Games store that was conveniently just down the street from where he was living and played in a small tournament on Sunday.

There was a fair bit of mix up over the format. For me it was kinda like this:
- Its a Sealed 150 event
- Its not, its a constructed 150
- Hey now its a 100 constructed...

I ran Loda/PL/Duros Explorer/Uggy
Friend(Kevin) Darth Krayt/Jariah Syn
Fox Kyle JBM/Garm
Chris Rebel Snowspeeder/Golan/Wookiee Warrior/Bothan Spy/Camaasi Noble/ others
Kyler Mando SC/Gunslinger/Blademaster/Trooper/ Gotal Merc/ Duros Scoundrel/uggy

Loda Handily trumpted everything. Managed to get some really lucky rolls against Fox, since Loda doesn't do well again't Beatsticks, and only played him once. I was reasonably certain that Loda coulda lost a rematch.
Faced my Kevin, Managed to hit Jariah with Leia, and then drop him with a 12 square run and smack with Loda. Leia was my MVP, rolling 2 crits against Krayt. A FP3 and a Leia's CE later, no more Krayt.
Then Kyler, I felt a little bad playing Loda then, since neither Kyler nor Chris have played a lot or know the game as well as I did. Went as expected, Loda was just too much to deal with.

Then we played Best of 4:
Kevin vs Fox
Me vs Kyler
Krayt managed to trump Kyle, although I heard there was some confusion about ruled, there may have been some forgetting of the LS duelist on Kyle.
My match played out the same way as before, Loda holds solid.
And then the final Played nearly the same as before. Killed Jariah, FP3 Krayt away.. Leai critted again, and Loda critted for the win.

It was a good time, got 2 boosters for winning: Jariah and Calixte, not bad, but already had them Was really looking for some more Vong JH.
On a side note, Fox bought 2 LotF booster, got 2 VRs, got a prize booster, another VR.. bought the last 2 booster outta that case.. not sure if he got a VR or not..

pfff, scary?... Let's just say he's a little short for a stormtrooper.

He's a good guy. It was enjoyable to hang out and play against him.

*chuckles* Okay, Ruhk's description is fitting as I'm also a stormtrooper/clonetrooper. Yeah, i'm by no means tall, but you know what they say. "beware the short guys"

and You hit it spot on Ruhk. Neither me or Kev realised Kyle had Duelist till like the very last round. Needless to say alot of Krayts rolls were Just making it, throwing duelist in would of prolly saved kyles life. *shrug* ah well. I screwed up, teach me to not read the whole card.

But yeah, there was a royal screw up with the format. All steming from wizo's end. First they tell him it'll be 150, then they email him saying it's 150 constructed on the Ossus map. then they put up the page online detailing all the details on the event. Then they sanctioned it for 100 @_@.. can you say they have NO clue wtf thier doing.

Nice little write up Eric. Sounds like you guys had a pretty good turnout. I may have to come up their some time.

I had no idea that photos of the Fox in his natural habitat were so elusive. Unfortunately there were no camera to be found on my person at the time.
Perhaps some subterfuge is in order...


I dunno.. then I might not win as much...


Totally a great time. Maybe if there is another major event, I will be able to make a special trip up.
