All the time where I play. We have a number of younger players who play very slowly so we tend to run out of time a lot. Even with 100 point squads.

I'm not really the biggest fan of it because I like to see the matches play out to the end, but I think that it is necessary in competitive play. It brings a lot of balance to the game and prevents certain squad abuse like ones that are Override-centered or something like that.

We don't but only because it rarely comes up. However, I think I'm going to train them... many newer players... a few "thinkers"... gotta put it inf or them :)

We use it at our venue, but it rarely means the difference in the game even though we generally do 40 min time limits.

I have to be honest, though, i really was surprised to see how abusive it became at gencon. So many games were decided because someone got a free piece out into gambit, making the other person become more aggressive.

I'm not a big fan of gambit, I think it should only be taken into account when time has run out.

I've won and lost games due to Gambit points. I think if you play with it enough it will probably level out the same for any player. A small percentage of games you managed to win because of gambit, a small percentage you lost because of gambit, and for the majority it doesn't have much effect on the game at all.

I think GenCon proved that Gambit points are VERY important. With all the stalling/delaying/maneuvering that happened, all the low score games, Gambit was sometimes the only decider.

Myself and the local guys around here don't use gambit. Everyone has a sense of honor I suppose, so killing somthing and locking yourself in a room has never been an issue.

We do for a tournament, obviously. But for a fun game, nope.

I've had more problems with someone getting a lucky early kill then running from me so i can't even up the score. Gambit would have been nice in those games.

i've never played a fun game with Gambit. If somebody actually tried the kill and lock themselves in a room type thing the game would end right there. The person facing it would quit and play somebody else since the whole point of playing fun games is to have fun.

I think that gambit should just be for a competative game, not for fun. That, simply put, just kills the fun.

LOL. So broken. All it takes is boba, BH to step out, shoot, then move back to the doombot, and get towed into a room and have it locked.

I'd be against gambit in fun games just for the simple fact of not having to bother keeping score during the game.

We play Gambit virtually every game. Most of the time its to test out new squads we might want to play in a tournament, but a lot of the time its just good to keep using the rules.

Gambit affects squad builds and the way the game is played.

I personally really enjoy the fact that its in the game because it helps speed the game up.

I personally much prefer gambit format over the kill-'em-all format. Gambit includes more strategy, and I think it makes for more interesting game play. Also it can shorten a game by a lot, which is good because then you can fit in more games. Also gambit rules have a tendancy to rule out crazy beats like Bane or Exar, however it doesn't make them obsolete (which is nice).
Sadly, we don't play gambit at my LGS.

Just to throw in my two cents...

We play gambit at all of our tourneys (every other weekend), but it took us a while to figure out how it worked. We still have players that completely forget about it. I won only 1 game due to Gambit, the rest Gambit didn't really come into play since both players had about even Gambit points or there was a clear winner without the Gmabit points.

I don't think we've ever used Gambit in "for fun" games. Nor would I want to.

I really do not like games that do not use gambit when playing with bunches of people, but when my friends and i get together to test stuff we usually are so aggressive that we dont bother. Squads are totally dead inside of a half hour in any format.

half hour games even with 200 points? That's awfully quick. I can pull off 150 in that time, but I play too carefully in just about all 200 games.

If they're fun games 200 can go that fast. Nobody holds back or agonizes over movement/attacking options in fun games. Its pretty much a free for all.
