Question, does the FAQ count? Or does it have to be straight from the rulebook/rules inserts. Because somethings aren't spelled out in the rulebook.

It's rough. I'm pretty pacient but the judge center drives me batty at times.

What is the proper order for Pre-game procedures?
a. Reveal squads simultaneously, roll to see who picks the map from all legal maps, loser of map pick chooses side and places first, initiative
b. Roll to see who reveals squad first, that person picks the map, roll for choice of side, with winner setting up first, initiative
c. Reveal squads simultaneously, roll to see who picks map from either their own or opponents, roll for placement, winner choosing who picks and then sets up, second player sets up, initiative
d. Reveal squads simultaneously, roll to see who picks map from all legal maps, roll to see who chooses side, second player sets up, initiative

Correct answer is "C." Source is DCI Floor Rules, updated 3/07

EDIT DNEMILLER

This question is already on the exam..... thanks though Ray

Basic characters have Speed 6. This means:
a. They can move up to 6 spaces and still be permitted to attack.
b. They can attack, then move up to 6 spaces.
c. They can move up to 12 if they do not attack.
d. All of the above.

Correct answer is d. Source: SWM Rulesbook, pg. 8

This is sweet. I found the practice test on the DCI about a month ago and took it. I couldn't find a real test so I took the Magic one instead.(that baby is really long) I am glad to hear that both you and NN are involved and can't wait til it is final. :r2line: From what I remember the test seemed pretty basic(which was good) I think more stuff with stealth and replaces attacks would help. Most of the people I play(in real life, not vassal) have a hard time with targetting and especially the word "sight".

I have Darth Vader with Sith Grip. I am able to use Sith Grip against:
a) Any enemy in Line of Sight because the Force Power only mentions sight.
b) Only legal targets because Sith Grip uses the regular targeting rules.
c) Only living targets because you can't grip a droid, they are immune.
d) The enemy gets to choose who Vader grips.
e) None of the above.

EDIT bt DNEMILLER EMR your questions has been submitted at least this one.......

Answer, b. Source: rulebook glossary pg 51 entry Sith Grip.

I have a Battle Droid, attacking IG-88 in cover. IG-88 has a 23 defense in cover and the Battle Droid has a +0 attack. I roll a 20.
a) IG-88 takes double damage from the Battle Droid, a critical hit!
b) A miss, IG-88 is immune from critical hits.
c) IG-88 takes normal damage, IG-88 is immune from the double damage of a critical hit.
d) The Battle Droid can't attack, it has a 0 attack value.
e) None of the above.

Answer, C. Source: Rulebook glossary pg 38 entry Droid.

EDIT BY DNEMILLER EMR this question added also.... great questions keep them coming.....

[edit]Added more detail on source pages[/edit]

Heh...all we have to do is skim some of the like 5 and 6 page threads in the Rules section of the WotC forums to find some good stuff for the test.

Dean, what about questions that can't be specifically answered by the rule-book or the Floor Rules? Stuff like the big discussion on Override last year shortly before GenCon (order of starting/ending Overried and how that worked with doors). It really isn't explicitly clear in the rules anywhere, and the current standing on it is based on NickName's ruling (and apparent OK from Rob). Is there a way to incorporate those sorts of questions into the test?

Because, frankly, those types of things are the ones that I think judges really need to know, not just the basic stuff from the Rulebook or the Floor Rules.

Ahh, OK. That makes sense. OK, I'll see if I can come up with a few things.

Everything needs an explicit reference in the rulebook for now. In theory the FAQ is (or will be) an option too, but it's harder to reference. I'd shy away from Floor Rules questions as well.

And the reference should include either a direct quote (preferably) or paraphrasing (if it's too long or unclear) or both if necessary in addition to the page reference.

When someone gets a question wrong, they'll see the explanation and in theory learn how the rules are properly interpreted.

That's all assuming you want to make it as easy as possible for Dean. :)

that is true NN,

right now there are about 50 questions that are parked due to being unclear or now are completely out of whack reference wise to the new rulebook....

that is why I am really enjoyed my acrobat download of the rulebook

Anyway you can post those here? Collectively, I am sure we could find the references to those questions.

What better place to start:
Question 1: Can you spell Glossary?
Question 2: Can you find the glossary?
Question 3: Can you read said glossary?

:D

I'm not 100% sure, because I have a slightly special account that allows more access, but it looks to me like the practice test is available to anyone who wants to take it. Maybe someone can check using their regular old DCI number and password.

The practice test will give you a good idea of how the questions are written, and how detailed the citations are for anyone interested in chipping in some new Q&As.

Okay, I took the practice test, and got 9/10, but the one I missed was b/c I checked one too many boxes on a multiple answer question. Not too shabby! Bring on the real deal! w00t!

Dean, you need any help putting together images? I might be able to assist with that.

The images Dean is referring to are like "Autocard" on other WotC games. It would be awesome if this was migrated to the forums at some point in the future. But it all needs to be done behind the scenes at WotC.

The hard part really is coming up with questions that are both challenging and brief without being rediculously obscure, and can also be accurately cited.

A character has evade and an adjacent bodyguard. I get hit by an attack. Do I evade first and then bodyguard? Or must I choose between the two?
