If you have general questions about the convention (Actually a 2 day affair) contact Charlie or Jasmin, sponsoring store owners. Here is the store web site... contact information available there.

It's my birthday present! I'm turning 35 that day. And it's only 3 hours from my house! Woohoo! Thanks so much for posting this! Now to find a good Epic Format squad....

Are you sure it's gonna be the Open maplist? So the original Korriban, Mustafar, and Geonosis are playable at this event? That might be worth rethinking...the Standard maplist would probably be a good choice, but the Open is pretty much looking for trouble. IMHO.

I was thinking of those maps, Tint. The problem is that many of my guys have a limited selection of maps to use. The other consideration was that I wanted people to be able to use recently made maps. Maybe I can just ban certain maps by name. Any others you think are abusive?

Or...make it the standard list and add the new maps. Hmm...

That makes the most sense, I think, especially since the new maps aren't on the Open map list right now, either; they're not on any map list, since they came out between the last floor rules update and now. There's also only a few new maps (6 I think) so it would be easier to just say Standard map list plus those 6 maps are allowed.

If you wanted to do it the other way, you'd also have to ban all the AT-AT maps (or are they even on the Open list?) and the Endor Bunker map, too. I'd also suggest banning Ossus.

Agreed. Thanks to both of you for your input. I will amend the rules this weekend to the standard list plus the 6 new maps.

Some of us from Northern VA are thinking about coming up for this tournament. And Kris, Marcous, and I have already started working on the customs. If we come up, we'll probably just bring them with us.

Excellent. Tell Marcous I am seriously thinking of asking him to make a Mace Windu with a Redskins hat on.

I love this format and wish we could come, but 12 hours is just too far. Hope it goes well for ya'll, and in case anyone is having trouble coming up with something good, here's some squad ideas (hit the text for link)!

Terentatek Sith Swap
OR nonsense based around conscription
Vader and the usual suspects cranked up to 11
A squad with almost every good Rebel piece there is in it
NR with Mara, Grandmaster Luke, and most of the Solo family
A monstrous Vong pile with almost ludicrous damage output
A Republic squad with Yoda and Flobi for ridiculous Jedi
A Separatist squad that kind of ignores the spirit of the format
Random Mando pile since I don't play Mandos
A fringe-only squad for kicks

Hmm, nice squads, Graham! But I was going to alert you to the fact that almost all of those squads have way more than 3 CEs, and that they therefore wouldn't be legal for the format. But then I noticed that the 3-CE limit wasn't mentioned in the original post.

The limit of 3 CEs really changes things. Jim, will there be a limit on the number of CEs (as is normally the case in this format), or will we be allowing any number of CEs?

And what about Boba Fett's Disintegration? I know that the big D was ignored in Epic Duos, but I wasn't sure if it was in this format (with Furious Assault, it's WAAAY powerful).

I'm not in charge so I'll be happy to play with whatever format we're using. I'd just like some clarification on some of these game-changing decisions, please. :)

Post subject:  Re: November 12 tournament at That Game Convention, Lemoyne Pa.

On the Facebook post Jason and Dennis were advocating the 3 CE rule as well. While I respect their opinions, I really would like to see if this format works without so many restrictions. There is no charge for the event... the registration fee is for the convention... so any prize support I come up with is out of pocket or donations. That basically means that the stakes are not what they would be at a larger event. (Which is why I will be playing as well, although I won't be eligible for prize support.) I think that allows a more liberal and lighter approach to the event. While I quickly realized the folly of an open map list (I had reservations beforehand) I don't think the CE effect on the game is as clearcut. My origional thinking was a CE limit would benefit OR a little and Vong even more. Dennis and Jason made valid points, however.

The long and short of it is that if someone can create a squad that abuses a no CE limit, then this is the event to do it. Alternatively, If my presuppositions are correct, then the results of this event will bear them out. Therefore, I've decided against any CE restrictions.

Oops...forgot about Boba. Disintegration works as normal. If Jason is correct about his handmaiden squads, then this might just be the perfect foil.

Me either! Debbie will still be recovering from her second transplant, or I'd suggest we go out to eat afterwards. I really wanted her to meet you... but since you are now a little closer, maybe there will be a next time.

In addition to the Standard Map List, which can be found in the 2011 floor rules, the other 6 maps are:

From Chris West: Mass Transit 3

Strike Force Carrier
Boarding Action

From Matt Francella and Josh Derksen:

Remote Listening Post
Commercial Spaceport
Outlaw City
Sinkhole

I was thinking of coming down on Friday evening too (3 hrs for me), so I could be available for some games on Friday.

In that regard, does anyone in the area have a place on the floor for me (and perhaps one other NJ player) to sleep? (I'll bring cookiees!) It's a 3 hour drive for me, so I'd really like to come down on Friday evening rather than risk the traffic on Saturday morning.

Hmmm... an easy 5 hr drive down US-15, might just be doable in one day for me and Steve.
