I'm sure at least some of the Atlanta crew will be there as usual. Coolecticon is as much of a tradition for us now as it is for you guys. :D

We are at a new (better) location, and the store has a new name. It is easier to find, too. :)

I'm assuming the same place this year's regional was at? Yeah, I totally blew the approach and then turned the wrong way off the exit. :P

To update:

The event starts at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $10. Prizes will be awarded. The format is Epic (standard version, as described elsewhere). Rounds are 90 minutes, and Gambit is worth 50 points instead of the usual 5 pts. The event will be held at Big Bang Comics and Games on Frederica St. in Owensboro. (They have a Facebook page if you need directions.)

Good call on the 90 minutes, we *tried* one hour rounds last weekend and it was not even remotely enough. We only had a couple games all day that hit 350pts, much less 500. We did play 15 pts for gambit - not 50, so that changes things too. I'll be curious for results.

Thanks to all those who showed up and played to make it a great event. Thanks also to both Matt Francella and Christopher West for providing great prize support via maps. Hope everyone had a safe trip home!

I will post a tournament report about my squad in a few days. For the curious we had 7 players, with 4 of those coming from Atlanta. It just turned out to be a bad weekend to try to have an event like this. Such is life sometimes.

I ran

Epic Luke
Jaina Sword
Han GH
Mara Jedi
Jacen JK
Winter
Ganner
Tycho
Leia Skywalker
General Wedge
Human BG
R7
Caamasi Noble
Mouse Droid
Uggie

Epic Luke fits a lot better in NR i think. Even if you have to have to spend tycho to get him in.

Tycho haphazardly ran into gambit and shot at some scrubs when he could and then promptly died in most games. His death cost me nothing and it made Luke turn his awesomeness on.

I ended up teaching Han every game. 80 accurate damage was a pretty big deal. Also building a wall of Jaina/Jacen/Noble won me a game against a charging Vong squad.

Luke as the Epic over Mara also meant that i could play Regular Mara. I also had the option to up her damage even more with FotNO which I was going to do in every game till I read the "within 6 squares" part. (note to self, read the card before you make squads)

Finished 2-1. Lost to daniel on poor play on my part and not making parry saves on the other.

@ Weeks... Interesting squad design but any concern about coming up against Epic Vader's "No Disintegrations?" Recently at the Lemoyne event, my Rebel squad using Epic Luke was seriously hampered by this naughty turn of events.

In that game I had planned to use first of the new order on Mara Jedi. She could do 160 to vader he may block up to 2. But 120 of that will probably go through. From there I'd just lightning and push him to death.

I went 3-0 and won with Vong playing on Asteroid Base.

--Epic Vong--
137 Czulkang Lah
63 Warmaster Tsavong Lah
30 Shedao Shai
28 Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler
27 Nen Yim
78 Yuuzhan Vong Ossus Guardian x3
80 Yuuzhan Vong Jedi Hunter x4
18 Praetorite Vong Priest
15 Lobot, Computer Liaison Officer
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
8 R7 Astromech Droid

(499pts. 16 activations)

If I win map roll I'm convinced that nothing beats this consistently, and the only thing that has a reasonable chance would be another Vong squad. It suffers from being almost all melee, but the lines of sight on Asteroid Base are so tight that the OR "move 12 and shoot everything squads" just don't work against it, as they're only going to get good lines to 3-4 pieces maximum. It also has the advantage of having a lot of non-uniques, so those OR squads will have a tough time hitting me without the Bounty Hunter bonus. It moves so fast with Charging Assault that in every game I've played with it I've been engaging in Round 2, and it can kill almost anything in 1 phase from 12 squares away. Since I've got SO many attackers I don't worry about losing a few of them if I can trade them for my opponent's big hitters. Basically I send in Shedao, the Ossus Guardians, and the Jedi Hunters as the first wave (that's 8 attackers!) and play cagey with Dash at first and cover them if I can (I don't want to lose him early). The first wave can win most games by themselves, but if they fail then the Lahs come out and Dash starts being more aggressive to clean up.

It has speed, tons of attack power, and tons of defense (and a few hundred more HP on table than most squads in this format). The only thing it lacks is ranged power since it only has one shooter, but being so fast and so strong defensively with the high amount of HP and everyone having VCA 6 I can close easily without losing too many guys even if I have to play on an open map.
