Post subject:  SWPL - The New Season

So our local play group, Star Wars Player League, has a league "season" that begins Annually thanks giving weekend. We kick off the new season every year with a 150 point Fantastic Four tournament, and given the holiday weekend we had a decent turn out with 8 players. The best part is that 3 of them were all new to the game, and I think they will be back. We have 6-8 regulars, and another 3-4 casual players so 3 new ones could mean some pretty decent size tourneys. And it's a private group invitation only so our growth has been pretty good considering we do no advertising.

How we run the league is using the 3/2/0 system, all points are added through out the year and the winner is declared, (I won last year with 51 points, 17 match wins, all in time) WE play an average of 1 game per month, some are themes such as The Battle of Hoth, Alot of sealed last year, some constructed or limited format. It's alot of fun and gives us a reason to play and be regular.

Additionally we always, after 3-4 rounds of Swiss, cut to the top 2 and have a champion of the day, as a way for players to earns some bonus points by winning a final match. (I went 4-0 in this tournament, so a good start to the season)

So the whole point of this thread is that if you are having a problem with keeping people coming, a season/league is a good way to go because it keeps people interested in their local stats/record. I have played before, when there was 2 games per week, 3 month theme leagues so it always reset itself after a few months.
