Im killing time til i get my new pieces (hopefully today!). I have been wanting to use the senate commandos, but havent actually built for them yet. This one seemed pretty straight forward as far as ideas go:
Gen Skywalker 47
Capt Argyus 29
Queen Amidala 16
x4 Senate Commandos 76
Mas 8
R7 8
x2 Alderaan Troopers 10
x2 ugs
200pts 13 activations

The commandos can hang back and mobile twin attack as long as possible, and when the enemy gets close they can run in and twin swing at a +17 for 40 DAM from momentum and close quarters fighting. If one can sit in the back he can quad attack. The low point seems to be the ATK from afar, but what does hit will hit big. I went with R7 over R2 simply because i dont know that R2 is really needed since Ani has GMA. Then again R2 could position a guard for a quad. I could switch 1 alderanian trooper for a nubian and add R2.

any thoughts?

I'm not seeing the usefulness of the Alderaan Troopers, so I'd definitely upgrade the R7 to R2 Astromech. As you said, towing a Commando for a quad attack, or even towing Anakin 12 so he can move another 10 and kill a key tech piece...either of those options are very powerful.

You could consider a Rodian Diplomat or two, since they'll only cost 4pts with Padme's rapport. A 4pt Diplomat is very, very handy. Maybe you can find a way to safely work 3 of them into the squad so that you can block doors on pretty much any map (seeing as most doors are no larger than 3 squares long). That could be very effective, especially in the current meta, where melee pieces are being played much more extensively than before.

R2 is always needed (or rather he always brings enough to be included). The tactic you state is enough to add him in.

LOL, two things. As i was writing the above, yeah, i had pretty much talked myself into adding R2. Second, my figs came today! YAY, so now i can use figs from MotF. Unfortunately, i only got two diplomats. Three is a better number, but i ordered before i got stats. I am gonna rework the squad to see what i can do to get some in.

Gen Skywalker 47
Capt Argyus 29
Queen Amidala 16
x4 Senate Commandos 76
Mas 8
R2 9
x2 rodian diplomats 8
x2 ugs
199pts 13 activations

The alderaanian troopers were just because they got mobile, rapport, and could shoot. The rodians are a much better idea.

So would these Rodian diplomats be qualified to earn gambit? I'm just curious as to whether rapport is going to effect that in a game.

So then wouldn't it be the most advantageous to run one of the old Nobles over the second Rodia, so that you could put the old, fringe one in gambit?

With one point to spare, that may not be a bad idea.
