Characters with Affinity do not count as their "new" faction. So you might as well take Queen Amidala out as the won't get her CE....otherwise if it worked they would also be another point cheaper...

According to the Glossary, they do:
Quote:
The specified character can be in the specified squad even if it belongs to a different faction. That character's faction is now considered to be the same as that squad's. For example, Mas Amedda would have the Imperial faction if he is in an Imperial squad.

So unless I've been totally missunderstanding what the Glossary says, they should benefit from Amidala's CE.

They do count. It's why you can't use Princess Leia brought in by Jacen Solo to give an Elite Rebel Commando brought in by Garm Bel Iblis an immediate attack via her CE, because they both become New Republic pieces. Probably not the best example, but you get the idea (hopefully).

Whoops. I was thinking of the Leia example backwards....then your Militia should cost 12 and 7 points each.

You sure about that? I know it doesn't work if you bring Princess Leia and Han Solo, Scoundrel into a NR squad. But I thought pieces brought in by Garm's reinforcements still stayed as their original faction.

Am I sure about it? No. SWM rules change at the drop of the hat and what makes sense in one aspect can be completely contradictory in an identical but different set of interactions. But this is my understanding for the moment.

LOL I hear ya

I had always thought that Affinity changes the faction, but Reinforcements does not.

I am fairly certain that is correct. A very brief search of WotC did not turn up any blue text, but there was this thread:

I will definitely be giving this a try. I don't have a Jabba though so I might replace him with some rodian brutes to help with activations.

Me thinks Lobo is correct on this one. I think you could use Leia on an ERC brought in by Garm.

Jedi Academy Mini-FAQ wrote:
Affinity

Q: Can Garm Bel Iblis bring in an Antarian Ranger or Yuuzhan Vong Ossus Guardian into a New Republic or Rebel squad through his Reinforcements?
A: Yes to a New Republic squad, both these characters are allowed in New Republic squads. No to a Rebel squad. The faction is not adjusted until after the character is legally added to the squad and neither of these characters is allowed in a Rebel squad.

NickName wrote:
Garm's reinforcments allow Rebel or New Republic pieces.

Bothan Noble is Rebel. ALLOWED.
Ithorian Commander Rebel. ALLOWED.

Ossus Guardian is Vong. NOT ALLOWED.

If your squad is New Republic...

Ossus Guardian has Affinity for New Republic and may be added to New Republic squads even though it is Vong. ALLOWED. Then his faction is changed to New Republic, per Affinity.

If your squad is Rebel...

Ossus Guardian remains Vong. It's not a New Republic squad so Affinity does nothing.

Same idea for Antarian Ranger.
