I'm fairly new to the game, so this is probably going to sound like a crazy idea. I've got a couple Tie Crawlers which I acquired pretty much for free. I've been trying to come up with a squad for running them. We occasionally run goofy tournaments after our main one if everyone has time and wants to keep playing. What I've been thinking is this.

84 Tie Crawler x 2
37 Grand Admiral Thrawn
8 Mas Amedda
71 Darth Vader, Legacy of the Force
200pts

Just something to play for the ridiculousness of playing two ungainly tie fighter tanks. Basically stagger the tanks so the front one can cover the back one and use Thrawn to swap them when the front one takes damage. Vader gives extra attack so both tanks get double twin at 20 points a shot. Any input will be considered, especially if I think it would make things more amusing.

You could drop Vader :o for some Imperial Officers, who grant extra attack (with Twin and Opportunist) to the Tie Crawlers. It'll be easier to move a Tie into position and give it multiple attacks (6+), than it will be to use double-twin.

Yeah, I've used them before with my Sentinel squad. Any suggestions for some melee blockers if I went that way? The main reason I went with Vader was just because every time I picture this squad I see him riding on top of what looks like the worst designed tank of all time. Then I start laughing. Maybe I'm just odd.

I agree with thereisnotry - the Imp Officer is more practical, since it also allows for you to move both Crawlers into position and use either one to fire a free shot off.

As for support, I'd recommend BoShek if they have Mounted Weapon - he's a handy piece with IR10.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't familiar with Boshek before, but I found a human engineer with IR 20 and satchel charge to throw in there. Vader was mostly there as a melee blocker. I've picked up a loader droid to drop in and slow down an opponent's melee charge in his place since it's low cost, high HP, and melee reach 2 to keep poeple from just running past it. Here's my updated squad.

84 Tie crawler x 2
37 Grand Admiral Thrawn
8 Mas Amedda
28 Imperial Officer x 2
13 Human Engineer
21 T1 series bulk loader droid
9 Imperial Engineer

Ok, played a couple games with this last night. Went 1-1. It was an amusing and functional squad. It destroyed a crazy vong savage squad, and got it's butt kicked by a Yoda/Mace combo with some jawa stealth shooters to back them up.
