An update to my ever famous wookie squad.

Han stormy. 25
crix. 16
lieutenant page. 22
riekeen. 14
wookie commandos x6. 54
dash r.s. 28
ithorian commander. 11
lobot. 27
mouse droid. 3

my wookies must be feared. With this set up they can rush 12 and smack for 100 damage. As I have only play tested it once I'm still uncertain but I think I need to take out one wookie commando for dodonna. It just seems like the best way to go considering I could always bring another wookie through lobot if needed. What do you guys think?

Dodonna is not worth it. Maybe Wicket to ensure the Wookiees hit. They are one shot wonders.

I don't think dodonna helps all that much in a squad of all cunning. I agree with Eric that wicket (although I assume your lobot reserves are wicket and 4 uggie/mice depending on map) would help. Maybe an r4 for targeting. Or Juno for some cheap distruptive to keep the enemy somewhat at bay.

I think most games are going to go like this:
Turn 1/2 move up
Turn 3 charge
Turn 4 charge again with the remaining wookiees
turn 5 do you really have any figures left to attack with?

I didn't have wicket or r4 cause my wookies were atk at +18 which should hit most things most of the time. I had dash in there to help with opportunist. I figured putting in dodonna because I played against a thrawn ozzel squad so with 12 activations I think and he still outactivates me when I have 19-20. That matchup would have been a lot different if I had dodonna and if I do have dodonna then it gives the vong a tough call to make. Do they take moble/evade do they take activation control or do they take charging fire either way I still hve all 3 and disruptive. Yes it's situational with dodonna who usually hurts cunning squads like this but I thought it would have more versatility against other squads and worth putting dodonna in. So it's either I'm thinkn way to much (which is a possibility) or it's just an issue of playstyle. Or the wonderful 3rd option is I'm so wrong and should just stop
and Im not ready to support that conclusion yet. (lol)

dodonna helps on approach. Its not true to say that he isn't worth it because other than costing 9 points he is no detriment to your squad. If you can keep your wookiees out of LOS and then move up at the end of the round after your opponent has activated then he is worth his cost.

The low amount fo wookiees though make this squad a difficult one to run.

I thought 6 wookies would be enough although with dodonna it's only 5 which does concern me a little but depending on what I'm facing I can bring 1-2 more in with lobot. I think it just takes a little work and getting used to which as often as I have run wookie squads should be easy enough to do

the problem is that 40 hp isn't much anymore (yobuck death from 16 squares) and many figures can prove hard to hit due to block/defence/parry or whatever.

Also you have so much in CE's (your adding 80dmg and +8 att to each fig) and your attacks have to be adjacent. Anything that can prevent your CEs (even salacious) can cause you to stutter for just long enough to get mullered.

IMO the best crix/page squads will be cheap shooters with a couple of wookiees for 80dmg hits when your shooters get pressured and possibly the best commando squads won't have page at all.

I agree with page but wanted to try this and as Tim and I both figured out there is more guns in this squad than I originally thought. I'm not trying to defend a perfect squad but depending on how it's run can hold some merit and plus it would be fun to rush 12 and smack Someone for 100. Good bye ossus guardian or vong jh. Don't bother making crab armor saves your still dead. And that would be worth it. Sometimes I play a squad for a cool gimmick and that's it. Besides there isn't many melée figs out there that can run 12 and kill an ossus guardian with one strike. I suppose jaina being pumped by a mando commander could but then again I'm getting this for a 9pnt piece. No it's by no means perfect but with a gimmick of a 9 pnt piece rushing 12 and killing much higher costed pieces it's fun and I couldn't pass on the chance, and of course it neat to see that I could upgrade my wookie squad from gen con years back with smthing new.

I have no idea what this means but it sounds like sage advice. Maybe after a pint or two it'll come to me.

I tried a squad very similar to this a couple of weeks ago. It did well and is a very fun squad to run. I had no problem with vong or the sith. However, fingers is right. I played a squad that contained Bastila JM, Atris, and Echani Handmaidens. As soon as I got set up to make a run, Bastila canceled my CEs and I was hosed. The handmaidens had no problem taking out my wookiees from a distance since they don't have stealth. It wasn't fun at all. But that is the biggest disadvantage to this squad.
