You’ve read the rule book, got the pieces in your hand and an excited player across the table from you. The wonder and awe of arguably the greatest game ever invented (I am possibly a bit biased) is upon you and you are keen to get involved in this great game. There is a catch, however. This game has been around since 2004 and, a couple of times a year the good folk at Wizards of the Coast and then later SWMgamers.com just kept bringing out pieces to continually evolve the game. New characters, strategies, combinations of ideas... the game now is so big, its a little daunting to even the most seasoned player. How then do you manage to get involved in a game so huge... Simple. The good folk at Save11 (the New Zealand SWM Community) have been working together with the SWM players from Bloomilk.com and SWMgamers.com to create a easy levelling system to allow the new player to work their way through the game in an accelerated version of how we came to the game. Welcome then to the Begginers Guide.
WHAT is the Beginners Gguide?
SWM101 is a levelling system aimed at introducing the new player to SWM (Star Wars Miniatures) through a series of graduating steps. This process will take players through from the basics of squads and characters, building on from what you can glean from the SWM Rulebook, and into more complex ideas within the game.
WHY Begginers Guide
Can’t we just let you loose on the whole game and let you figure it out for yourself? Well, of course we can - this isn’t the Empire... but, it should be noted that there are currently about 1500 pieces in the game. The number of combinations boggles the mind. This system allows you to progress through the levels and learn this game at an accelerated pace.
WHAT Do I need?
You’ll need all the items listed in the SWM Rulebook - this doesn’t supplant that document in any way! If you have the rules, some pieces, a d20 and a map, you’re pretty much good to go.You’ll need all the items listed in the SWM Rulebook - this doesn’t supplant that document in any way!
